Team
Ellis Steinberg
Venture capital investor and start-up specialist from Montreal. After a successful engagement with a Canadian venture capital firm, Ellis established Phoenix-Hill Partners with Kaunteya Nundy. He specializes in networking with business owners, sourcing opportunities of many kinds, and raising capital. Earlier he co-founded the Summit Waters hedge fund and advised several banks and investment institutions. A competitive chess player who practises Muay Thai.
Kaunteya Nundy
M&A specialist involved in approximately $2 billion of closed transactions, with a focus on food manufacturing, retail and technology. Several years in emerging-market private equity and private debt at a $2 billion firm; most recently head of underwriting and portfolio management at a Montreal venture capital firm, and COO of a food-robotics start-up through its $5 million seed round. A Cordon Bleu-trained chef who helped establish Joe Beef as chef de cuisine.
Michael Stachowski
Michael joined Phoenix-Hill in 2024 and has since risen to Vice-President of Acquisitions. A CFA Level III candidate, he leads the firm's origination: he runs the research that turns a buyer's criteria into a shortlist of Greater Montreal companies, and he is a driving force in the firm's client relationships. Michael comes from a career in competitive hockey, which shows in how he works — disciplined, relentless and a team player — and he excels at golf, among other pursuits.
